Progressive engineering company secures funding for growth!
A Nottingham engineering company, HSM Engineering Limited, has further invested in a new facility with state-of-the-art equipment to streamline its business operations thanks to a government-backed grant programme.
HSM Engineering Ltd has been a pioneer in British engineering for over four decades by continually improving its plant capabilities and gaining accreditations, such as Nadcap, ISO9001, AS9100 REV D and Rolls-Royce approvals in nuclear, aerospace and civil engineering. HSM was awarded the grant in 2017 and has recently completed the installation of several new investments; which included communications and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems, material manipulation equipment to increase productivity and portable inspection equipment for product verification. The investment finalised their three-year project to create a new high technology business which can perform competitively in the Aerospace and Nuclear sectors. HSM’s plant capabilities have been enhanced in Water-jet, YAG Lasering, Multi-axis Milling/Turning, Seven Axis Sliding Heads and Siemen’s NX and CAD/CAM software. The N2 Business Growth Fund, which is part-funded by the Government’s Regional Growth Fund and the European Regional Development Fund, provides grants to support businesses in the Nottingham area that are planning to grow through innovation. The fund contributes to investment in capital projects, research/ development and new technologies, leading to business growth and the creation of new jobs. Companies in Nottinghamshire had the opportunity to bid for grants for business growth projects thanks to £5.7m of funding secured by The University of Nottingham.
Jason Thorpe, Managing Director, said: “This investment will enable us to offer innovative, cost effective solutions to our existing and potential new customers across all the engineering sectors. We believe in investing in people alongside technology, and this grant has enabled us to strategically grow our business. Going forward, this gives us a competitive edge, which will hopefully future proof us for many more years to come.”
Jo Murphy, Project Manager in the Business and Local Partnerships team at the University of Nottingham, said: “We’re delighted to have been able to support HSM Engineering with their ambitious growth plans and the creation of new jobs in the region.”
