Investing in Capability: HSM Engineering Adds Haas UMC-500 5-Axis Machining Centre

HSM Engineering has made a new significant investment in advanced manufacturing technology with the addition of the Haas UMC-500 5-Axis Universal Machining Centre to our production floor in Nottingham. This investment directly increases our capacity to produce complex, high-precision components for our customers with immediate availability to support both existing programmes and new requirements.

The UMC-500 delivers full simultaneous 5-axis and 3+2 machining capability, allowing complex, multi-sided components to be completed in a single setup. The machine’s rigid base casting and cycloidal rotary drive system on the B and C axes provide the stability required to hold the tight tolerances demanded by high precision programmes as standard.

The UMC-500 brings:

  • High-precision machining to tight tolerances across aerospace, nuclear and defence components
  • Full 5-axis simultaneous capability for complex geometries completed in a single setup
  • A rigid, stable platform built for the demands of high-specification production environments
  • Faster throughput — fewer setups, shorter cycle times, quicker delivery
